R.I.P. Lilly

We were watching a friend's dog this weekend and somehow the dog got into the rabbit's cage. There was a struggle, and in the end Lilly had a broken neck. We had to put her down, but not before Kenzie asked us to take a picture of her and her beloved rabbit. As a parent, your heart aches for your child when something like this happens. Kenzie was very upset, but she realized that the dog was just being a dog. Lilly is buried next to Gavin's frog out in the backyard. Although sad, it's a necessary event in our lives. We need to teach our children that they will experience loss sometime in their lives, but that you deal with your feelings and move on. Needless to say, Kenzie bares no ill will toward the dog and even cuddled with her on the couch after the incident.

I tried out an organic produce co-op with a friend. I got 17 types of food for $22. I think it was worth it. the produce was local and really fresh. It was pretty cool and tasty.

Gavin apparently has some aquatic traits. He had an extra tooth behind his two front teeth. The dentist affectionately referred to it as his "sharktooth", and the name stuck!! Unfortunately this extra tooth was pulled in late December 2009. We will miss you sharktooth. By the way, Gavin was a champ. They didn't have to sedate him....it was me that needed the happy gas!!

Although it's been two months, I've gotta give props to our friends Jared and Jen. They came over on Halloween, brought crazy good chili, super scary treats and candy galore. Mommy's Baby Is Growing Too Fast!

Laney is 9 months old! In the last few months she has cut teeth, started crawling, standing up and even cruising around the furniture. I will miss her being so cute and little. I wish this stage lasted a little bit longer. Pretty soon she'll be saying "no" and pretending she doesn't hear me when I talk. Then, the tantrums, and the "I hate you mommy" or "you ruined my life". I can't wait for that. Why can't we just skip the 2's? That would be heaven.

On August 12th, Jared and I celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary. It was low key. We just went out to dinner and enjoyed being alone together. (that doesn't happen often!!) I'm glad I found such a wonderful man to share my life with, and to be the father of my beautiful children. I'm blessed!

Gavin was chosen as Ranger of the Month at his school. His teacher, Mrs. Falkner, had some nice things to say about him. She said that he loves to use big words and always has interesting information to share. He helps the other children learn and sets a good example. He is interested in many subjects including numbers, animals, countries, patterns, and big words. What a funny kid. We are so proud of you Gavin.
